Ok, I've got a serious problem with my PC and I really need some help on it.
Sorry if this seems abit garbled but its hard to explain. Yesterday I
finished building my latest creation, an Athalon 64 3000, with 1GB ram, and a
radeon 9600xt. The mobo is a Foxconn 755A01-6EKRS. I've got 2 HDD's one is an
old 20gb and the other is a newer 80gb. I've also got a DVD Writer, and a DVD
Player.

The problems began when I first tried to install windows onto the PC. I
booted up the PC, tinkered with the Bios to boot from CD, and inserted my XP
cd into the drive and hey presto the install screen came up. This is when it
all started to go down hill. During the first installation I got 3 seperate
error messages (that I didnt write down) basically saying that it couldnt
copy certain files across to my HDD. After the third error it blue screened
on me with a message saying that there is a problem, make sure all drivers
are deactivated (there are no drivers, both HDD are freshly formatted), make
sure the Bios doesnt have things like Shadowing running, or anything Cashing.
Well after that I went into my Bios again and searched around till I found
Shadowing and deactivated that, then retried the install. This time I got no
errors untill the 73% mark then it came up saying, "Cant copy file, press
enter to retry, f7 to contine anyway, or esc to quit". I hit enterm and to my
merry surprise it copied the file successfully, untill the 75% mark 3 seconds
later, when it just gave me the same blue screen as earlier. I think this is
a sign that I've managed to fix some of the problems but I'm not sure. This
latest blue screen gave me an error saying PFN_LIST_CORRUPT 0x0000004E
(0x00000099, 0x0002f0BD, 0x000000003, 0x00000000).

Personally I am completely stumped. This is the latest thing to happen to me
and I've given up for the moment. I started building the PC at 7pm last night
and finally gave up at 1am before trying again untill 1pm. I've managed to
get ahold of my old windows ME disk, and boot disk to get me into Dos. I had
an idea of install ME first and then overwriting it with XP. It gets about
10% of the way into the ME install then comes up with a message saying "Setup
cannot copy installation files to your computer. Click ok to exit setup".

Oh yeah, and I format of Fdisk my 20GB HDD for some reason. I've checked the
Bios and its definatly beging detected, and gives me all the specs of it, but
I cant find it at all using Fdisk. If I unplug the 80gb HDD and then try to
Fdisk, it says something about incompatible NTFS Partician. So I try to then
delete the partican and make it a FAT32 (just to make ME work for a few
seconds) then the whole computer crashes, and I have to reach for the reset
button.

Oh, and I've also looked into the windows website and it doesnt tell me much
when I type in the error messages. All the fixes and work arounds it offers
assume that windows is already installed, so thats a no go before anyone
suggests it to me.

Any help anyone may be able to offer will be GREATLY appriciated. Thanks

I also have the same problem as Slickmink and would really appreciate
if anyone has a fix for it. I tried downloading AMD Athlon 64 drivers
but I don't know how to make/where to get the txtsetup.oem file, so I
don't know how to get windows setup to use the drivers.

Please post here if you have found a solution to this problem.
