Here's another candidate for the Webware page at pricelesswarehome.org.
It is used to produce pictures of chemical compunds for Web pages
(like Wikipedia articles), presentations etc. The images produced have
a "free license" (see
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Image_copyright_tags):

http://cactus.nci.nih.gov/services/gifcreator/ - GIF/PNG-Creator for 2D
Plots of Chemical Structures

It requires Java. . . be nice if they mentioned that. . .

Any hints? My experience to date is not good. . .

I haven't seen the demo molecular structure. I have had to reboot twice.
Something grabs hold and won't let go. Mozilla can't switch tasks,
doesn't close properly. . . .

arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. . .

This is what I said when you suggested that site last December:

"Thanks for the suggestion. IMO the name is misleading. The site bills
itself as "Data conversion online" - but it's a mixture of things. There
are some useful looking text manipulation tools."

--------

IMO there's not much point in just *listing* sites - the Webware
description should tell people what the sites are useful for. I don't
know how to do that with this site - it's a hodge-podge of different things.

Some of the "tools" are links to other site that we have already listed.
I haven't had time to try the tools that are actually on that site. Are
any of them particularly interesting?

Interesting?No.Functional,maybe,I haven't tried them all,I haven't seen
any that are links to other sites though.

Some off-site links are shown on the right hand side of the page. Some
are mixed in. One example - at the bottom of the page:

# Legacy spreadsheet to Microsoft Excel conversions.
Convert older spreadsheet files for use with Microsoft Excel.

following the links. . .

http://www.iconv.com/legacy/indexExcel.htm

Corel Quattro Pro to Excel Convert legacy spreadsheet format Corel
Quattro Pro to Microsoft Excel.

http://www.iconv.com/legacy/Excel/Corel Quattro Pro.htm

We do not offer online data conversion for legacy spreadsheet formats
here at iconv.com, but if you are looking for this kind of
functionality, try the ACI Instant Online File Conversion service.

http://www.acii.com/online.htm?o=IconvCom

"The ACI Online Conversion Service is a unique and very cost-effective
online conversion facility. . ."

I agree. Java can be difficult to get, and often slows my computer to
a crawl. That seems to have resolved with more recent Java versions (I
think I'm pretty up to date).

Yes, use IE. Also fool around with the controls, changing from the
deafault can make a big difference in the outcome.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll try it again when I have more time.
