How do you reset/cancel a protected document password? I have a user that has
forgotten the correct password to open their document. Any suggestions?
Thank you

Create a new blank document. Go to Insert, File. Select the protected
document and insert it into the blank document. All protection will be
removed from the text in the new document.

I don't believe that works for documents with a password to open, just for
password-protected forms.

The only way to open a Word document that is password protected against
opening is with the password. There are password crackers available that
purport to crack passwords if you have the time. Word's encryption can be
set to a high standard and the brute force password crackers required will
take many hours or days of continuous processing to locate the correct
password. the more complex the password, the longer it takes. Hypnosis might
be quicker?
