Managed to set up an autoreply on Outlook (Office XP) by following
instruction "microsoft office assistance : have exchange server send custom
reply messages" and manually selecting everyone on my address book. Problem
now - HOW DO I turn it off PLEASE.

Disable the rule; Tools-> Wizard Rules...

Tips of the month:
-Properly back-up and restore your Outlook data
-Creating a Permanent New Mail Desktop Alert in Outlook 2003

Thanks but being "somewhat elderly" I will need more help. Would the
following be suitable
Tools -> WIzard -> Apply to changes in IN box->new ->start creating from a
template->stop processing all following rules->next->from people or
distribution list-> then select everyone on my contacts list->finish

Sound logical but I am not sure what will happen if (say) I then add someone
else to my distribution list because they will not have been selected. What
I really want to do is DELETE the original "on holiday" message

Thanks for help

You should see an overview of your configured rules now. If you do not want
to use the rule anymore you can delete it otherwise uncheck it so it won't
process the rule anymore.

This is getting me nowhere. When I do Tools -> Rules Wizard then the popup
box has 3 areas. The top area says

Apply changes to this group - with an entry Inbox (pop.ntlworld.com)

The next two boxes are empty ie
Apply rules in the following order and
Rules description are both empty

So what is there to delete?

The rule giving my "on holiday" message is clearly written in a file
somewhere on MS Exchange server. and there is some sort of rule somewhere
that says the message should be sent to anyone who writes to my email
address. What I need to do is somehow deleted the message and delete the
rule - but I do not know how to do that.

I am getting nowhere with this. People are still getting my autoreply saying
that I am on holiday

If in Outlook I do TOOLS -> Rules Wizard then there are 3 boxes

The top box says Apply changes to this folder - and then has Inbox
(pop.ntlworld.com)

The next boxes are empty ie the box
Apply rules in the following order
Rule description
are both empty - so what is there to delete

Clearly the text of my message is stored somewhere on Microsoft Exchjnage
server as are some rules saying to send the message to anyone who writes to
my email address. I need to physically delete both the message and the rules.

Help please
