I'm just wondering. I have this application error (failed to initialize 0xc0000006) and no programs will execute (not even Windows Explorer). I just recovered from a seriouos crash in Windows XP (it took me two months to do it). But XP Home opens up and I can see my files and copy them to my jumpdrive no problem. Just no applications will work (installer, iexplorer, windows update, nothing). So I think something has gone ary with the recovery. I do notice everything runs much slower (start up, log on, and my computer). Anyways, I don't know what I can do except reinstall but to backup everything I have on the hardrive I want to see if I can use a usb cable to hook up the laptop (the problem child) to a pc and copy everything on the laptop to the pc. Is this possible? Also, if you have any other suggestions, they are greatly appreciated. Peace and Love

You will need a USB Crossover cable to do it. Make sure the USB is a
crossover.

Is there a special wizard I need to use on either computer or will the PC automatically recognize my laptop?

Files and Setting Transfer will help you move most of what you need.

CompUSA has a USB Network Cable for 24.95. Should be in or near the
Networking aisle. Will be in a Red and clear plastic box.

You can use a crossover usb cable to connect the two to transfer info, but
in order to do the transfer, the laptop is going to need to be working well
enough for you to set it up to network with the desktop. If no programs will
execute, chances are you won't be able to set up the transfer.

It might be easier to get an adapter for the laptop hard drive and install
it in your other computer and transfer the data that way.
