Just curious as sometimes my brothers router is VERY slow and I wonder
if a neighbour guessed the password?

Most routers provide a list of the recently-issued DHCP leases. (under
logging, tools or suchlike) If there are any on the list you can't identify
as a local machine, this might be your culprit.

A wireless connection need not of course use DHCP but almost all do.

hi nick.

Which router???

Try connecting over cat rather than wifi to eliminate the possibilty of
interference.

Also set the router so that no one else can use it via mac control etc.

Nick,

If you have a WiFi router, you may have an access log (complements the DHCP
log), showing what clients are connecting. And you should enable security. WEP
is the absolute minimum, though WPA is the minimum that I would recommend.
