Can you remove the preview pane option completely with Outlook 200

Is there a way to change the default in Outlook 2003 so that it NEVER defaults to the preview pane? I don't want the feature live, and it's a pain to turn it off every time I create a new folder to file messages away.

I think I read that you can change the default in OE, but I'm worried that's not an option with Outlook. Anyone know if that's the case?

Megan,

Thanks, but I'm inquiring if there's a way to GLOBALLY shut if off. For example, if I create a new folder in my Inbox, I have to shut down that view every time I create a new folder.

It's there something I can do so I NEVER have to worry about the Preview Pane.

What an annoying feature.

I am also looking for an answer to this 'problem'. We are
doing a major deployment to 1400 desktops. We are
switching from Groupwise to Outlook XP and would like to
have the Preview pane turned off as a default for
folders. Our mail will remain on the server and only be
archived locally so we have no local .pst file. Can
something be set on the server to make turning off the
preview pane a default?

Thanks CJ

I did find a switch that will turn off preview panes and
not make it available under the view menu. Start outlook
with /nopreview - If you have Outlook 2003 you can also
use the switch /Safe:1 that will do the same thing.
