How do I make a computer be a member of two separate domains? It need
only be a member of one at a time.

Just join it to two domains. After you do that you will have a pull-down
window on logon to select which domain you want.

How do you join the second domain? There is no place to add a second
domain under Computer Name tab. I suppose I could just write it in but
would that remove the current domain?

A computer cannot be a member of two domains. However, if the user has
credentials on the second domain's server he can use its resources. I
believe full membership in multiple domains can be granted if a trust
is set up between the domains. If you tell us what your end goal is,
someone will be able to give you more focused help.

A computer may be a member of only one domain at a time. To enable
computers in one domain to access resources in another domain, create
trust relationships between the two domains.

I have a workstation I manage that I had to change its domain
membership from a small domain to a larger center-wide one. The user
needs access to file/folders on the old domain. Is it possible to set
up a shared folder/mapped drive to his home directory on the other
domain with alternate credentials instead?

Yes! Trusts! I knew I forgot something! :) Sorry for any mis-info. I've done
this in the past but I just momentarily forgot about the trusts needing to
be in place.

Either set up a trust between the two domains (since you apparently have
control over both) or create a user account for him/her on the old
domain with appropriate permissions set. Then you could map the drive
and when the user tries to access it, s/he will need to enter the
username/password to the old domain.
