can you email a read only document??

Here is what I'm trying to do:

Create a document (make it Read only) <--how do you do that??

The email it as an attachment so when the person opens it it is read only...
 
Hi Alesha-

In Word 2003 you have at least 2 options:

1) Tools>Options, on the Security page set a password to modify. The
recipient will be able to edit & save a copy, but cannot save changes to the
original. (In earlier versions of Word the

2) Tools>Protect Document, set a pw & save. The recipient will not be able
to modify that document without pw & copies will also be protected against
change.
