Can you change the hyperlink settings in Word?

I'm creating a document in Web Layout in word. I have many hyperlinks in this
document and whenever I click them, it changes the color of the font,
prompting a message asking if I want to save the changes. Is it possible to
stop word from changing the color of hyperlinks after they have been selected?

The hyperlink changes to the Followed Hyperlink style -- so if you redefine
that style to be the same as Hyperlink the color won't change. However I'm
not sure that this is your problem: on my machine (W2003) the document's
Saved state doesn't change when you click a hyperlink anyway.

I have Word 2003, and sometimes I do get a save prompt when I've clicked on
a link.

Strange. I tested it in my W2003 and didn't; still I tested it only a couple
of times and you do say 'sometimes'. Does it perhaps relate to the
hyperlinks history rather than the style change?

Haven't a clue. I just know I sometimes get prompted to save my document of
links to FAQs. Of course, some (and who knows? perhaps all) of the times,
that's because I've inadvertently typed text in the document instead of in
the Find dialog and then backspaced over it.
