Can you adjust space above and below a table?

I want to put a standard amount of space above and below my tables (I use the
Contemporary format) without resorting to extra paragraphs. Is there a place
to modify the default spacing for a table like there is for a paragraph? It's
not in the Table Auto-format Modify menu.

Hi Sandy,

Unfortunately, you can't define "space before/after" for a table.

Sometimes you can apply 6 pt white borders (6 pt is the maximum border width),
but that doesn't really help much.

Since you're posting from the web interface anyway, you might post a suggestion
to add that feature in the word.tables newsgroup. MS has promised to look at
those suggestions (or at least suggestions that get a lot of support from other
users).

Regards,
Klaus
