can unsave a file and go back to the original save?

I accidentally erased all of my text and saved it. Is that text lost
forever, or is there a way to get it back? Please help!
 
If you didn't close the document, use Undo.
If you did close the document, your backup file will have the previously
saved version.
If you don't have the backup option set it is gone.
