can u create a domain on a xp pro machine....

You require a Windows Server opertaing system to do this such as Windows
Server 2003.

No, but of course you can run a Workgroup and maintain the share on the XP
Pro; there is a limit of 10 (ten) simultaneous inbound connections however,
and you will need to create all the users on the XP host as well as any
other NT/XP-based machines with identical passwords in each place (refer to
the Help & Support Center in XP - look for 'Steps for creating a home or
small office network'). This would do for a very small office or home only;
not a typical office scenario. Also the administration capability is really
basic. But if you have the time, go for it..........

To create a domain, you would need to start with a server
operating system, such as WinNT 4.0 Server (may it rest in peace),
Win2K Server, or Windows Server 2003. WinXP Pro, however, is an
excellent choice for a client OS to use on the domain's workstations.
