Can text be added to a Gif?

I have a gif image in PowerPoint that is an airplane pulling a blank banner
behind it. I would like to somehow type text onto the banner so that when I
animate the Gif and have it "fly" onto the screen it pulls with it the
desired text. Is this possible and how? I tried placing a text box over the
banner and animating both the gif and the text box. But it flys the box into
place then starts the text box. They will not "fly in" simultaniously. Does
any one know how to acomplish this?

Either you could group the GIF and the text box BEFORE animating them (this
works in all PowerPoint versions from 2000 onwards).

Or you could change the start option to "With previous" (only available in
PPT 2002 and 2003).

Or you could use an image editing program such as AnimationShop (comes with
Paint Shop Pro) and type the text directly into the banner (be sure to
change ALL pictures in the GIF file).

Kind regards,
Ute
