I recently reinstalled my XP Professional OS to clear up
some problems. I then downloaded SP1. I am now having an
intermittant problem accessing my outgoing server for e-
mail. Could SP1 be causing a problem?

John

Not directly! SP1 has a known problem with memory management and this
should be corrected with SP2, later this year.

I never had that problem with SP1, I would look elsewhere.
Most likely on the server end.
Try re-setting the account. Delete it and start over.
just a thought, Tony D.

Post any errors and state Mail Client.

Disable email scanning of outgoing and incoming mail. It provides no
additional protection (and even Symantec says it's not needed:
