Can someone please help me set boundaries on a worksheet?

Right now my scroll bar is tiny and when I move it, it scrolls down into the thousands. My document only uses 284 rows. I need to set the parameter, but I can't figure out how. Nothing I do has changed it.

On my other excel files the scroll bar is large and will only scroll to the bottom of the worksheet. This is a file that I “inherited†and I am not sure what the person before me did to make it act like this.

Thanks for any help you can offer

The chances are that there IS something below row 284, even if it's
not readily visible. Try doing [Ctrl] + [End], and see where that
takes you. I'll lay odds that it's well below row 284.

*IF* you're absolutely sure that there shouldn't be anything there
(like hidden formulas), I'd try selecting all of the rows from 285
down (the whole rows), going to the menu item Edit -> Clear -> All,
then Edit -> Delete just for good measure. Save the workbook, shut
down Excel, then reopen it. See whether that helps.

Excel assumes the used range extends to places where you had data but deleted
it or cleared the contents.

To reset it..........

Go to bottom of "real" range and hit SHIFT + END + Downarrow to select all
rows to 65536.

Edit>Delete>Entire Row.

Do same for columns to the right of your "real" range.

NOW.....Save and Close the workbook.

Re-open to see new scrollbar settings.

For more on this subject see Debra Dalgleish's site.

Thank you soooo much for your help. It did what you suggested and it worked. When I re-opened it, the scroll bar was normal size again and only scrolled to the end of my document
Thanks Again!!!

Thanks for the help. It worked when I did it. Also, thanks for the tip about using SHIFT + END + Down Arrow to select rows from there down. I didn't know that and had been highlighting it manually.
Thanks Again!
