I have a second machine on my home network connected via wireless to my
other PC. Both are running XP Pro SP2 and Office 2003. The second machine is
for my wife (it's in her craft room). I'd like to find out if I can set up
an instance of Outlook on that machine which is essentially a client to her
main account, which is on the first machine. I'd like to keep all the main
account info, email archiving, etc, operating on that first PC. Possible?

Tony,

You cannot do that as you specified; however, you can configure outlook on
the wife's computer to leaev the messaegs on the server.
On the main computer configure outlook to leave messages on the server as
well but add the deletion after a few days. This doble configuration allows
both workstations to download emails and one computer to clean up after a
few days.

hope this helps

Hmm, that sounds like it might work, Rafael. The way we both operate,
however, is to never leave email on the mail server. We both have our
Outlook accounts set up to place all emails into our personal folders. I
could set up her "remote" machine to always leave mail on the server, and
the main machine as it's currently set. The only downside is that when she
does occasionally use her account from this machine she'll wind up getting a
bunch of "old" mail that would have already been taken care of when she saw
it on the other PC.

If you have your own mail server or if the one you have uses IMAP instead of
POP, then it could be the way you like it.

i don't know of any other way around it.
