I would like to be able on some slides to ask questions that require user
interaction is this possible. If so can anyone point me to info about how to
do it

Phil, PowerPoint can be almost as interactive as a video game, if you have
the time and cleverness to set it up. PP2002 can do some amazing things;
when coupled with VBA, it's usually only limited by the show designer.

So, knowing that most anything is possible, lets point you to some things
that people have offered to share ...

- Millionaire PowerPoint template

During the process of building your presentation, you are certain to need
questions answered. So it is vital to give you one more link ...
The PowerPoint FAQ page is an amazing resource for anything you will think
to ask (including which of the MVP's are cat people)

This should be more than enough to get you started,
