Can Outlook auto file sent items in their corresponding folder?

I would like Outlook to automatically move sent items sent to a particular
contact to a folder that I have set up for that contact, so that I can easily
find messages to that contact without resorting my Sent Items alphabetically
each time I look for something. Ideally, all read items in my Inbox would
also auto file to each contact's folder (if one exists) at the end of the
day, say at midnite, and if I'm not ready for that to happen, I would just
make sure that the item was marked as unread before I leave for the day.

If this isn't currently possible, I nominate it to be a new feature in
Outlook's next release.

Thanks for your help in advance.

That's it! Thanks Danny Boy. Now if only I could make a rule that applies
only to "read" items in my Inbox and they move, say, at midnite. That way,
unread items would stay in my Inbox, and all read items would get filed at
the end of the day to their appropriate folders.

But, alas, you can't. Automatic rules run only when items arrive in the
Inbox.

Was it your intention to post a message that was nothing more than a quote
of some other message?

Only when items arrive in the Inbox? Does that mean that rules set up to read:

sent to J Bagodonuts
move it to the Bagodonuts folder

do not apply to e-mails *I* send, since they never arrive in my inbox?

Guess I should have figured that out already. Is the only work around for
that to send the e-mail to myself and to my client, for my sent items to be
filed in individual client folders?

No, you create a rule for 'send' which is then applied to mail when you send
it
eg; sent to whoever, move to whoever folder
