Can Outlook 02 use Outlook Express Address Book (.wab)

My outlook 98 could use the .wab address book. I can't get it to happen in my
new Win/Office XP setup. I like the .wab layout better for personal contacts.

No version of Outlook has ever used the WAB.
IMO mode of Outlook 98 used the Windows Address Book engine only because it
was unable to support the Outlook Address Book. No full version of Outlook
ever did and no current versions do.

OK, my old P3 PC, Win 98, Office Prof 97 with Outlook 98 installed over ,
IE6/OE6:Click address book in toolbar, get the same address book (contacts
and all) as I get when I clicked on the address book icon in the OE6 toolbar.
Its a .wab address book. I seem to have been sending emails using it and
adding to it in Outlook for years. When I click on Contacts in Outlook98 I
get the Outlook contact address book. It has different data.
Either way, can I get the .wab info into Outlook 02 contacts?

you're not seeing the wab contents in outlook- you have the outlook contents
displayed in the wab interface. you can enable that kind of sharing

PS. Just read Dianne's answer - the Outlook 98 is an IMO - checked the help
window. I never noticed before. It seems to do all the other Outlook stuff.
