Hi, I have a quick question. Can out-of-office assistance and email
forwarding be using together? Last week, user A passed away. I configure
all the email to user A forward to user B. I also turn on the out-of-office
assistance for user A to let the people know about the fact that user A is
no longer available when they email user A.
However, when I tried to message user A, I won't able to get the customized
message that I typed in the out of office assistance..
I tried to cancel forwarding and shorten the customized message and it
worked.. I don't understand why. Or do you guys have other alternative for
me to try?

Thanks

Hi,

What is your Outlook version and your Exchange server version? Whenever
problem arises, please make sure you are working with the latest service
packs. How did you setup the forwarding of e-mails? You can use the
out-of-office assistance together with the forwarding functionality. The
problem you encounter may be due to the length of the customized message.
Try again with a shorter message while the forwarding is enabled on the
Exchange side.

I am using Outlook 2002 and Exchange Server 2000.
I go to the Exchange General>Delivery Options>Forward Address to do the
forwarding. What are the limitations for out-of-office assistance?

Thanks

Rather that forwarding A's account to B, simply specify B as a delegate for
A's mail. I believe that will accomplish what you want (although I haven't
specifically tried it). I believe OOA will respond and B will be able to
access the mail.
