Hello...

Is it possible to change the order of buttons for
running programs on the task bar?

I'm used to having my Outlook button on the far
left, but every now and then, I need to close it
(or I close it by accident) and want to re-open
it.

Unfortunately it reopens on the far-right (as do
all programs). I know that is a minor
inconvenience, but I'd be happy if I could fix it.

Any way to move it back to the far left?

TIA.
Steve

Right Click, hold, and then move it left or right to wherever you want.
You should see a solid bar next to it as you are moving it.

Steve,

Yes, through third party apps. Use a search engine for the phrase "change
order of taskbar buttons".

I don't believe he's talking about the quicklaunch bar, but the taskbar
item that appears when a program is run. The order of those is set by
which program is run first. It takes third party software to change
that order.

Left click and drag the line to where you want it. You get a ghost of the
icon while moving.

Yes. Using third-party tools.

Taskbar Commander, rearrange your taskbar windows icons:

Thank you one and all...especially
Ramesh...TaskArrange was perfect...I highly
recommend it.

All I wanted was a simple app that would let me
change the positions, and this one hit the
spot...no installation issues (registry, etc.),
simple to use, and I also added it to the quick
launch bar to make it REALLY easy to fix any
mis-positioned taskbar apps.

Thanks again.

You're welcome Steve.

Sorry about that. I should have read the message more carefully before I
responded.
