Can Office Xp 2003 open earlier Office documents, eg. Word and Excel 97/2000?
Can Office 2000 open documents from Office Xp 2003? Is there a
viewer/converter
that is available if Office 2000 cannot?

Office documents have been essentially file compatible since Office 97.
There are some minor anomalies and some differences in vba, but for the most
part you shouldn't have a problem.
