Not a lot of information to work with, so here is a list of
things you should do, if you can.
Go to Trend Micro Housecall and Pandasoft's online
AntiVirus sites and run the on-line antivirus checks they
have for you there.
Install and run a firewall. I like Zone Alarm, the free
version.
Look at
http://www.computing.net/windowsxp/wwwboard/forum/104055.html
and do some internet research until you can clean up your
(possibly infected by malware) "hosts" file. NOTE: If
your "hosts" file is infected you likely will not be able
to access ZoneAlarm, LavaSoft, Spybot, Trend Micro, etc,
until you have cleaned it up!
Install and run LavaSoft's Ad-Aware anti spyware program.
I run both it and Spybot S&D. (There are Spybot S&D fakers
out there so be sure you have the right one.)
Go to Mike Lin's site (Google Mike Lin startup control) and
download and install both startup control and the Startup
control panel programs he has there.
I know this is a very general response, but to me the
question is pretty general too... ;-)
