I know this has posted before and I have read the threads but the solutions
do not seem to work for me.
I can not send messages. They sit in my out box. There is no error message.
They do not appear in my sent box. I have tried sending to another email
address and have verified that the messages are not going anywhere. The one
odd thing I have noted is under account in my out box it says
incoming.Verizon.net. Now I would think this should say
outgoing.Verizon.net, but maybe not.
I am very disappointed in this new vista. I have already had to wipe out my
computer once and start from scratch. I keep getting error messages that say
my computer had to do a crash/dump and the problem is traced to McAfee. I've
written to them but they do not respond. Could this all be related?
If I go to the Verizon website I can send mail fine, although it is a lot of
extra steps to do so instead of just hitting my mail button.
Any help would be appreciated. I am not a techie so answers in the simplest
form would also be appreciated
thanks

These set up instructions are for Outlook express but are very close to
Windows Mail you might try this:

You might check here to see if you have the server names swapped:

Most versions of the McAfee antivirus program cause assorted problems
in Windows Mail, although seldom immediately. So do most versions
of the Norton antivirus program, and a recent version of the Trend
antivirus program. These programs must be uninstalled, not just
disabled, to stop them from causing such programs. You often then
need to run this cleanup program to take care of what the uninstall left
behind:

You may even have to remove your email account under Windows
Mail, then restart Windows Mail and create the account again.

If this solves your problem, you may want to download and install
a replacement antivirus program that doesn't cause such problems.
I recommend either avast! or AVG, either one with a custom install
that tells it to leave out the part that scans email.
