can not open outlook

Yesterday all my Microsoft Office functions ceased to work. I reinstalled
Office and now word and excel work fine. Outlook still does not work. When
i tried to open it I get a meesage saying the" Microsoft Outlook has
encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the
inconvenience." The error report is sent to Microsoft. Then the program
tries to open in "Safe Mode" That does not work either. Finally, it offers
to "detect and repair." That does not help. Then I get a message suggesting
there is an update available that might address the problem. I follow the
links to the update, but the update can not load.

Please help.

No. There seems to be a problem with the ActiveX control. I have followed
the tips on changing security to include the microsoft office site as an
allowed site and cleared the temporary files as suggested. But still can not
install the update.

decipher my email address and email me the link to the download. I'll see if
I can download it and get it to you.
I could advise steps to start from scratch but since this patch is suggested
it seems appropriate to try it first.
 
Bill: Just wondering if you recevied my email. I can get and send email by
signing on to my Internet provide as if I was at a remote computer, but still
have no access to outlook. Thanks for your help.
