Why? (Things that have been driving me crazy.)

1) Do I have to keep re-change the speaker configuration in the control panel
from regular stereo to 5.1 surround sound every time I re-boot my PC?
Is there no way to save this somehow?

2) Every time I re-boot I have to re-turn on Quick Launch toolbar.
Why can’t this be saved?

Which vendor Soundcard or on-board audio chipset ? - Most have a
support software module (Control Panel) to setup/customize features.
If your setup is using embedded XP drivers, then that support module
may not be installed/available. In that case you'd need to download
the latest driver package from the vendor's website.

QuickLaunch should be a "Sticky" setting. How are you enabling it ?
(Right Click Toolbar, Toolbars options - or Properties of Taskbar by
Right Clicking the Start button)

Yes I've done everything you mentioned hundreds of times, I do them everyday.
The new thing you said was about the vendor. I have SB Live for sound. Both
things I mentioned in my 1st post reset themselfs on every boot up. I go to
the places you said and reset the settings.
Poor me! :~(
