Can not edit word document

I'm not sure what I did but now I can not edit my word document! I went into
OPTIONS to make the markup stuff go away......and now I can not do anything
to the document, it won't backspace, it won't delete spaces or words...help!

Probably you turned "track changes" ON instead of OFF. Read
