Can not delete empty folder

Hello, this I know is probably a very simple question to answer but for some
reason I can not delete a folder I created. It is empty (0MB) and when I try
to move it, delete or change it's name I receive: "..refers to a location
that is unavailable..try again it may have moved." I have tried system
restore, and putting a Word file in the folder & all I get is a duplicate
folder that I can open but still can't delete. I have also tried searching
for it on my computer thinking I am missing an extension -- no luck.

Anyone who can provide help? Thanks

It's hard to advise without knowing your op system, but I'll assume you're
running Windows XP...

You might try to delete it from safe mode.

Some routine maintence is usually a good idea too: I use the Disk Cleanup
utility occasionally to delete all but the most recent system restore point.
Also delete TIF (including offline pages), cookies, and history. Run
complete & thorough scans with up-to-date antivirus (almost any),
antiadware(ad-aware), antispyware (spybot-s&d), antitrojanware (a2). Finally
do a defrag, and check your hard drive for errors (Tools tab of your hard
drive's properties).

If no luck, you might consider leaving the malfunctioning folder alone if
your computer is working OK. Otherwise the only way might be to reinstall
your op system.

Thank you N3. I am using XP. I earlier did run DF & DC and I don't think it
is associated with any spyware or virus as I created the folder and later
deleted the contents. It is almost like an application that requires you to
put back in the CD to make it run. I must be missing a link somewhere. I
will try deleting it in Safe Mode & if that doesn't work then I guess I will
leave it & learn to see it every time I open up My Documents.

Thanks.

Hi,

Open a command prompt (start/run cmd), then navigate to the parent folder
(CD\documents and settings\<username>\My Documents), then use RD /s /q
<directory_name> to delete it.
