Hi,
I have windows XP home edition. When I start the computer. It come up with several options
to start -
1. Safe mode
2. safe mode with commands
3. Last setting used
4. Normal start etc.
I used all the options, but it end up to select the options again.

Then I tried booting the windows by pressing PF8 and put in the windows XP CD.
I was given 3 options
1. Windows set up
2. Windows repair
3. quit

I tried windows repair and ran FIXBOOT. It was corrupted and was successfully recovered. even than
problem was not fixed.

In windows repair - I can not use commands like CD, DIR etc. it come up with command not recognised.
I can not use /SCAN either.
Please help, can I recover some files from my disk to start the windows ???

Simplest thing to do is a Repair Install. Check here on how to do it

To do a Repair Install set your cdrom as first boot device in Bios. Boot
from CD and follow the instructions
of the website that I sent you to. YOU DO NOT WANT TO DO A REPAIR.
Repair Install is a different
animal.
