Can mark unread email as "read"

My Outlook 2000 mailbox (connecting to a Exchange 5.5 Server) displays two
unread mail items, but all items have been read. Marking all items as read
does not unmark them. Any ideas?

Some niggly thought rolling in the back of my skull prompted me to check the
sent date on these mails, were they sent from the future?.
