I am running Windows XP Home and am planning to buy an OEM version of Windows
XP Pro (full version). Will the full version allow me to do an upgrade
install, or do I have to know the computer down and install the operating
system from scratch???

Most generally - an OEM version will only install to a clean drive - it
won't do an upgrade.

No, OEM versions of XP will only do clean installs.

A Retail Full version will do an upgrade (but save money and buy an
Upgrade version that will also allow a clean install should you want
it). An OEM one will *only* install clean. Also be aware that it would
be licensed solely to the machine where first installed, and not
transferable to a successor one
