My computer recently broke. I had installed XP at the
beginning of last year. I bought a new computer that
has XP already installed. Am I able to sell my old XP?
I am not sure if I registered it. It is not an OEM. Not
sure if I am in the right newsgroup.

Greetings --

Yes, you may resell a retail license of WinXP. Be sure to include
the CD, the CoA, the Product Key, and all documentation with the sale.

Bruce, if we just bought XP Professional, can we install
it on two computers in our home? Or does the product key
only permit one installation?

Greetings --

You need to have one license for each computer.

As it has *always* been with *all* Microsoft operating systems,
it's necessary (to be in compliance with both the EULA, if not
technically) to purchase one WinXP license for each computer on which
it is installed. The only way in which WinXP licensing differs from
that of earlier versions of Windows is that Microsoft has finally
added a copy protection and anti-theft mechanism, Product Activation,
to prevent (or at least make more difficult) multiple installations
using a single license.
