Can I replace my fire damaged XP and Office disks?

My vendor is wishing to upgrade me to 2003 with a whole new software and
installation charge. I thought that as long as I have my serial #'s and
receipt that I could ask MS to replace my disks...am on correct on this? If
so, where's my best place to start for the replacements? Cost is nominal I
presume...

Thanks!

If the disks were retail, MS will replace them; if they were OEM, it's up to
the OEM, but a fire isn't exactly a warranty situation. If you've gotten the
computer or other items replaced or paid for through your insurance, you
should have put the software on the list as well. If they did pay for it,
you can't have someone else replace them, too.

If it was a retail license and you have proof of purchase:

If it was an OEM license, you should contact the computer's
manufacturer.
