Can I re-install XP Pro Upgrade Without Original WinME Discs?

I'm having the same problem with 100% CPU usage of
explorer.exe. I remember installing a program I
downloaded off the Internet. Within hours, I noticed a
significant slowdown in my PCs performance. Then I found
a few programs that had the name "explorer" in them. So
I guess it overwrote my original explorer.exe file, and
now is a Trojan horse than none of the virus checkers can
find, including McAfee, Spybot, Adaware, or HijackThis.

Can I re-install WinXP Pro UPGRADE without having my
original WinME discs?

No. But if you have Windows 98SE, Windows 98, or Windows 95 disks you will
be able to use the XP upgrade.

Also, if you have a backup copy of your WinME disk, it will be sufficient to
provide proof of license ownership.
