Can I delete .log files?

It depends on what the log files are for. That really does sound suspicious
because log files are just text files and certainly shouldn't be taking up
17MB of space. You can look at the log files and see what programs they are
associated with. If you need more help, then post back with what you've
discovered.

The problem with just randomly deleting log files is that many programs rely
on them for their uninstall routine.

I have 319 log files on my C drive (boot drive). I don't know how much room
the occupy, but in the overall scheme of things, that's a tiny amount of
space to an XP system.

You CAN delete some of them, but only if you know what they are. Most of
the log files are needed, so be very, very careful. I seriously doubt you
could do away with more than a few of them in total and the space you gained
would be irrelevent to XP.

Log files have too many uses to go into them all; perhaps someone knows of a
list, but I'd leave them alone.
