can I delete addresses in the pull down address bar?

Got into one of those nasty sites that left addresses in
the pull down of the address bar. How to get rid of those?

Tools/Internet Options/
click the Clear History
Also run a spywear program to remove the traces (spybot or ad aware) will
do.
