can i copy system volume?

Is is possible to copy my system volume into a folder on
a different partition so that i can reformat the volume
then copy back the saved system volume?

Ivan,

you can do something similar to this and achieve your aim with
tools like Partition Magic, Drive Image, Drive Copy, Norton
Ghost, etc.

You cannot copy the operating system as long as it is running.

Read Jupiter Jones's reply. One cannot back up the SVI folder for later use.

Actually Ivan's post was in regard to the system volume, also known as
the system partition, not the System Volume Information folder. Norton
Ghost or another disk imaging tool would be well suited for making a
backup of the system partition that could be reapplied after formating
the drive.
