My Dad has a new 80 GB HDD. I want to format this new HDD into 3 NTFS
Partitions (C,DandE). I currently have a 80 GB HDD with (3) partitions
all FAT32 (C,D and E).

I have backed up my current HD with Ghost onto (3) CD's ......each
partition onto a separate CD..... and wonder if I can load these FAT32
partitions onto my Dad's new HDD that will have NTFS partitions
without any problems. Can I?????? Any caveats???

Thanks, Mike Jr.

You can use copy / paste to move the files, each drive will
use its format. Ghost might just try to image to FAT32
format on NTFS.

I could be wrong about this.

If the backup you made was an image of an NTFS partition, then the restored
partition will be NTFS.

When you restore/copy an image onto a new hard drive, the original file
format of the imaged partition/drive is retained!

Imaging programs repartition/reformat the HD to match what the image
was. If your existing partition is FAT32 but the image is NTFS, then
when you are done restoring the image you will have an NTFS partition.

Have they already been formatted as ntfs partitions. Why not copy the files
and then convert the fat32 to ntfs partitions. I think you can change them
back with Partition magic and then copy the files then convert back ro ntfs.

I'm not sure about this but I think Powerquest's web site can explain this
if possible.
