I have Photoshop installed on my computer but I don't have the disc that was
used to install it. Is it possible to burn a program like that without having
your orginal disc.....? Or any other program for that matter that is already
installed on your computer. If there is a way could someone tell me the
steps to take on how to make a copy of programs. Thank you very much to the
community as always.

Hi Barbra, I have always admired your work. The answer to your question is
no. Other than a very simple program that consists of one file, most
programs consist of hundreds or even thousands of files that have to go
through an install process. Some of the files are not installed in the main
program's folders but are installed in Windows XP folders to enable it to
work in Windows. Also, changes are maid in the registry during the install
process.

Not exactly. If you back up the files in the registry, using regedit, in the
key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Adobe, and the ones for the file types
(Search it up on Google if you can) and all files associated with it in the
C:\Program Files directory, there is a good chance that it will work once
restored. Some parts of the program, though are likely to be disfunctional.

Thank you very much for your helpful answers! Very much appreciated indeed!

No, you really can't do that, unless it's a very simple program that just
runs on a single .exe file without registry entries. Most programs, and
Photoshop is one, when installed, insert hundreds of entries in the registry
in many locations, along with files in various folders on the drive. So
there really is no way to back that up for a reinstall. You should always
have the original media for any programs installed on the system.
