Can Folders be open to show subfolders by default?

I have a lot of manual copying and pasting into sub sub folders from one
drive to another. Is there a way to set Windows Explorer so that the the
folders are all open. In other words, to make Windows Explorer open up with
all the "+" marks expanded out?

Maybe have a look in Tools/Folder Options/View

There are many options and I am not going to try them out.

I have gone through all those options and not found this to be one of them.
That is why I sent in the question.

shistir,

- Open Windows Explorer. In the left-side pane, click on the drive you want
expanded.
- Press the key for the character * on the number pad (not the 8 / * key). *
has it's own key just above the '9/Pg Up' key on the number pad.

Note:

This will expand every folder on the drive, hundreds if not a thousand on my
computer, so be patient while they're expanding.

ps-Check this site for more convenient options:

Right click Windows Explorer/Properties and type one of these options into
the Target path:

To have C: open (No folders)
%SystemRoot%\Explorer.exe /root, C:\

To have My Computer
C:\WINDOWS or Winnt\explorer.exe /n

To have C: open expanded - Examples
%windir%\EXPLORER.EXE /e,c:
%windir%\EXPLORER.EXE /e,f:\Limited Documents

To have C: open and My Documents
%windir%\EXPLORER.EXE /e,c:,%HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH%\My Documents

For it to open to My Documents:
explorer /n,/e,%HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH%\My Documents or
C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe /n,/e,%HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH%\My Documents

To have My Documents open only (No folders)
Explorer /root, c:\Documents and Settings\%username%\My Documents
Explorer /root, c:,%HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH%\Kelly's Computer

If you wish to have Explorer open at My Documents on another drive, you
would use:
%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e, f:\My Documents

To have another Drive letter assigned to opening: D for example
C:\Windows\Explorer.exe /e, d:\

d:\ can be modified for any folder/sub-folder you like. As in:
%SystemRoot%\Explorer.exe /e,d:\My Stuff

The /e switch tells Windows Explorer to open in the two pane explorer mode
and the c:\ tells it to open in folder C:\. If you omit the /e switch,
Windows Explorer opens in a single pane view.

I am not a mind reader. Without you specifying what you have done, any
information is supplied with good intent. I wouldn't waste my time
suggesting something that I _knew_ you had done.

There is nothing that you can do about that I am afraid, old bean. This is a
newsgroup!

Thanks - I hope I can figure out how to harness this power you are
describing. When I Right click on Windows Explorer/Properties, I do not see
a target path.

Sorry - I appreciate your trying to answer the question. I suppose some
people would not have thought to attempte the obvious. fyi... you might want
to reword the regular statement of "There are many options and I am not going
to try them out." It seems a bit snippy. Instead perhaps, 'I don't have time
to researchy the question, but this gives you a starting point." Or perhaps
just leave that line out - your answer was better without it. Thanks again.

Thanks - this works like a charm. It works not only on the drive but also
you can use the operation on an individual folder alone that has subfolders.

when I saw this thread and your post I knew immediately that the option
wasn't there in your suggestion. I have at least read all the options
in the past, and one like that would have stuck out.

If the option was there / as simple as that, then somebody else would
have posted it. After all, Mr Bean, this is a newsgroup. One need only
offer guesses and not sures if nobody else has a clue.

I also write my own responses.

One can always accept (ignore) or reject the suggestion.

I have noticed that people are very generous with praise - but they don't
normally snipe if the suggestion is not that useful. They just ignore it!
