Can anyone offer advice????

I have been doing phone support day in and day out trying to help
people get rid of this" Blaster" virus, and have had sucess most of
the time over the phone, but I am stumped. I am trying to help a
reletive on the other side of the country and cannot get her taskbar
back. We tried goin into safe mode, and still no taskbar. She has a
dell computer and aparently they had her make changes to the RPC
service and her computer now boots extremely slow and never display's
the taskbar. We ran the scanner from Norton, and it did not detect a
virus. We checked the registry and it is not in there or the startup
group either. Yet she has no internet, and no taskbar. This did
however start with the symptomatic reboot of the Blaster virus. I am
thinking her Mcafee AV must have already deleted it, not sure what's
up with that. This is not an easy one, since she has no connectivity.
Any ideas?

Visit http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm and scroll down to
Item No. 195 (right column), click on "Restore Desktop Icons and Taskbar".

Install the Recovery Console, then do the following:

Type this command into the Recovery Console:

ENABLE RpcSs SERVICE_AUTO_START

You should receive a message saying "RpcSs has gone from
SERVICE_DISABLED to SERVICE_AUTO_START, you must reboot
your computer for these changes to take effect."

Type EXIT into the Recovery Console and let your computer
reboot.

Posting MORE doesn't speed anything up. Post once. If you have a problem,
once more is probably acceptable. Consider yourself lucky you got a reply
after 4 identical posts. Maybe you should concentrate on MOUS instead of
MCP, so you can learn how to use Outlook.

I agree with you on the multi-post being bad, but:
Outlook doesn't do the news, Outlook Express does it for
Outlook. Seeings OE is not part of Office, MOUS is n/a.
Even if OE was MOUS eligible, it is immaterial as the NG
reader which the perpetrator used was Forte Agent
