I have a OEM Installed 7 Works 'Word' Dictionary and
although the Dictionary has an Add Button - I can't find
the Edit location to Delete some of my Added words. I've
tried selecting Tools, then Options, but there are no
Tabs, in Options, as a previous Responder wrote. However,
it seems if you can Add Custom Words, then you should be
able to remove them (?) somewhere?

Thank You and Puzzled.

You can edit the custom dictionary in Outlook, tools, options, spelling tab, edit
custom dictionary

My Outlook Express does not have an active dictionary;
the only dictionary I have is in Works Word 7 Edition.

It's a Microsoft Program similar to MS Suite from what
I've gathered and one big difference is that it does not
contain a shared dictionary with Outlook Express.
Therefore, I have no active Outlook Express dictionary.

Neither Windows XP, nor any other version of Windows, has ever
come with a Spell Checking facility. Outlook Express uses the
spell checker that comes with Microsoft Word, (or another
Microsoft Office program) if you have it installed.

If you don't have Word or Office installed, you probably don't
have a spell checker. However there are several downloadable
freeware/shareware alternative spell checkers that work with
Outlook Express and Outlook. Since I have no personal experience
with any of these, I'll let someone else recommend one.

On the other hand, if a Microsoft Office component *is*
installed, try the instructions at

To the best of my knowledge I believe the Edit Feature is
simply not offered in Microsoft Works Word 7 Edition as
it would be listed in the Help section which I've scanned
repeatedly. But if anyone knows otherwise I would be
greatful to have the ability to make some Editing changes.

Again, Thank You.

Try a file search for *.DIC

If you find one named "Custom.dic" just double-click on it to open in NotePad.

Thanks, but no good. It lead me to Common files/Microsoft
shared - which is a small listing of Microsoft's own
words - a custom dictionary for their purpose.

GREAT. You have Works Word 7 Edition? Where is that
Dictionary Edit located, please?

I have the Freeware Outlook Express Dictionary and it's
excellent. A discount ISP linked me to the download.
