Can a XPe be installed on a FC as a standalone system?

All - I wonder if this scenario would be feasible. Can anyone relate to it?

Would it be possible to take a 1G disk on key, install XPe and some basic
applications. I would then like to take the disk on key with me to another
computer and upon rebooting it (boot from USB) have my entire desktop load.

What would be the drawback / barriers to doing this?

Thanks,
David.

Hi David,

Check uDOC device from M-Systems:
http://www.m-sys.com/Content/Products/Product.asp?pid=29

They have all tools and XPe components (with drivers) that you will need to easily replace IDE disks with USB disks for all
operations.
Also for evaluation purposes I have created procedure how to use same drivers that we use with XPe to allow XP Professional SP2 to
install on uDOC without temporary HDD drives.

On 1GB uDOC that use compressed NTFS after installation there is 300-400 MB of space left for other applications and use.
What would be the drawback / barriers to doing this?
If hardware platforms are same then there are no problems related to OS PnP and protections. If not then you will need to find out
by your self.

By default boot from USB is unsupported by MS and without additional drivers can't be made to work on most computers.
