i have two pages of text that i want the computer to read. I then need to be
able to save the document and burn the computer speech document to an audio
cd. The aim is to have an audio cd, with the computer speaking the two pages
of text.

I'm sure it's not cheap:

Try: http://www.nextup.com/attnv.html

maybe something like the computer in the movie "War Games" with Matthew
Broadrick...

LOL

If it's two pages, couldn't you read it into a microphone into your computer
on a wave recorder...

See http://www.gmayor.com/word_text_to_speech.htm
There are a number of applications that will record the currently playing
application in Windows to an audio file format eg
http://www.soundrecorder.net/- you'll need WAV format for an audio CD.
Actually reading the document into a recording microphone would give better
results than computer speak - though Stephen Hawking seems to manage.
