Can a networked CD drive look like a CD drive from another computer?

I have one computer with XP and the other has 98. In My network places on
the XP machine, all the drives on the other computer appear as network
folders, not drives. Is there a way to make the cd drive look like an
actual drive on this computer? Is it possible to play a music cd in the
drive on the other computer on this computer?

This drive is mapped, but I still can't play a music CD. I can open it in
My Computer and see the .cda files, but I can't play them.

I don't believe you'll be able to do so. The file system that Media Player
uses to play the CDs isn't something you can access over a network.

Hi
My mistake, Richard is right, I was thinking MP3 or other file type that can
be ripped of a music CD.
If it is a straight Music CD it does not use the Computer/Network File
system, it uses the Audio output of the CD-Rom and thus can be played only
on what ever Line Input it is physically connected too.
