I've looked over several of the last posts regarding this
feature no longer working. I've tried the autofix.exe,
the Registry Edit and I've downloaded and run the TweakUI
program (thanks to Yves Alaire for those suggestions).
Still no autoplay when the camera is turned on and plugged
in. USB port says it is working properly. In fact, in My
Computer, the camera no longer shows up in Devices with
Removeable Storage.

Before I go and drop $20 or more on an external reader, I
thought I would make another plea for assistance. I'm
using a Toshiba PDR-2300 camera on Win XP pro.

Strangely, when the camera is attached via USB and I turn
it on or off, the chime sounds letting me know that
something has been added or removed from this port.
However, the Autoplay screen does not come up.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

This camera comes with ACDsee software to manage and edit your photos. Give
it a try.
Connect your camera. Apparently XP does recognize it since you get the chime
sounds.
Open ACDsee and click on File on the top bar.
Look at the opening menu. There should an item about acquiring photos from a
camera. Something like "Get pictures from". See if you can download from
there.

If XP read digital images as music files, then the Autoplay is not set
properly.
Under My Computer, right click on your card reader drive. Click on
Properties, a window will open. Click on the Autoplay tab. Under Select,
change Music to Pictures. This should now show you the options for Pictures.
Click the button "Prompt me..." and click OK.
Try your card reader again.
