It is nice. Don't know how I missed Buzzy's review! :-(

And I even searched Google 'alt.comp.freeware' advanced search and
didn't see any mention of it there, which is what lead to me
search.

"Results 1 - 9 of 9 for calorie counter group:alt.comp.freeware"

Tip of the day. . . ;) Try searching for the home page - that often
works pretty well:
Results 1 - 21 of 21 for kelpiesoft.com group:alt.comp.freeware
Results 1 - 21 of 21 for http://www.kelpiesoft.com group:alt.comp.freeware

or the name of the app:
Results 1 - 9 of 9 for "food file" group:alt.comp.freeware

Names are chancier - someone may write "FoodFile" instead of "Food File"
in their post.

How can I search for something I don't know the name of?
"Food file"? I was looking for calorie counter.
There was only 7 listings when I searched Google Groups.

Thanks again.

At least now "calorie counter" in now searchable for this group.

Sorry - I misunderstood - thought you were specifically searching for
posts with info about Food File.

Thats okay. Some time I don't express myself well, so I could be
to blame also. :-)

BTW have you seen Buzzy lately?

FOODFile is not just a calorie counter! It's a nutrition program. What
programmer Will McGugan has done is taken the huge data file put out by
the United States Department of Agriculture and designed a brilliant
front end for it.

Five basic categories of nutrients that are significant to people with
weight and specific health concerns (diabetes, high blood pressure,
etc.) are shown at the top in a pie chart. An extensive list of
components is presented below in tabular form. These include such things
as specific vitamins, minerals, protein -- even junk! Significant facts
about the food are also shown at the left side of the data window.

The program is easy to use and well-behaved. Here we have a huge
database of raw information from a US government agency, massaged into a
really useful form in Scotland. I recommend FOODFile highly, and I
encourage everyone to use it.
