calling standard module procedures from event procedures

Access 2000: I have written a Function procedure XX() in a standard module.
Testing it locally works fine. When I try to invoke it from within an event
procedure in a forms class module (the same database), with the single
statement XX(), VBA returns the message that the function is not defined. ???

Call XX()
