Call waiting is disabled and I cannot switch it back on

I want to be able to disable call waiting to download email without being disconnected by incoming phone calls. Then when finished I want to turn it back on to receive incoming phone calls. I was able to do this successfully with Windows ME. Now I have XP Pro and it is stuck in disable call waiting mode even though the disable call waiting box is unchecked.
 
Hi,

You need to download and install the proper modem update for your system.
See the web site of the modem manufacturer. You likely have only a standard
WinXP-supplied driver. This only provides basic functionality for the modem
(makes it connect, but does not support all features).
